Antonio Anselmi

"The two soloists we heard – principal violin Antonio Anselmi and cellist Pietro Bosna – displayed technical dazzle in Paganini on the one hand, and seamless beauty in Rossini's Theme and variations for Cello and Strings, on the other."

"...Soloist Antonio Anselmi maintained the sense of poetic structure, yielding to a crisp, unanimous accompaniment that kept the passage of time moving along to its wintry conclusion.
A splendid concert, in a splendid setting."

"...Antonio Anselmi: violinista e musicista straordinario, interprete funambolico e davvero paganiniano in tutti i sensi. Il suo dominio assoluto della difficile tecnica strumentale del violino vioeppiù sottolineata dal suo stesso aspetto, ce lo fa sembrare un... Paganini redivivo!"
Pierfranco Moliterni
Leader Antonio Anselmi took the solo part, with a fervour and almost devilish flamboyance worthy of the great Paganini himself.
"... the lead violinist, Antonio Anselmi, was outstanding - like a reincarnation of Nicolo Paganini, with his angular, bearded features, forelock of long black hair and striking virtuosity.
The wizardry of his fourth finger, his squealing harmonics, the twirling of his bow-hair as it broke off, without missing a beat, and the intensity of his vibrato drew foot-stamping applause from the full auditorium when he played Paganini's Carnival of Venice. Yet he could revert to lyrical, elegant playing and held the group together throughout the concert with his magnetic leadership."

The Four Seasons... this version came over as secure and brisk, soloist Antonio Anselmi moulding some off the faster movements into vivid shapes.
